Funding

The ICH Association is primarily funded by annual membership fees. The ICH Assembly approves the Association’s annual budget, membership fees and any other sources of funding.

The ICH Management Committee is responsible for submitting to the Assembly all recommendations on financial matters, which are prepared by the Finance Committee.

Multi-year budget planning promotes stability in membership fees and ensures the necessary funds to support ICH operations, which include the running of a permanent ICH Secretariat and the hosting of biannual meetings of ICH governing bodies and technical working groups.

Annual Membership Fees

Following the creation of the ICH Association in 2015, ICH was funded by Founding Regulatory Members, Founding Industry Members and Standing Regulatory Members until the ICH Assembly introduced membership fees for all Members beginning in 2018.

ICH’s Articles of Association state that membership fees should be fair, proportionate and transparent.

Membership fees are assessed periodically in view of the ICH budget and the number of ICH Members. Current membership fees are listed in the 2026 ICH Membership Fee Table, approved in November 2025.

Funding of MedDRA

MedDRA activities are self-financed through annual MedDRA subscription fees. Funds cover activities of the ICH MedDRA Management Committee and the MedDRA Secretariat, and the overall cost of the Maintenance and Support Services Organisation (MSSO), which is contracted by ICH for the maintenance and production of MedDRA.

Subscription fees are set at a level that corresponds to the cost of all MedDRA activities and are included in the annual MedDRA budget, which is approved by the ICH Assembly.
